When it comes to smartphones, Samsung and Apple are two brands that are far ahead of their competitors in terms of performance, quality and all other aspects as well. Over the years, these two companies have established a staggering user base all over the world and without any doubt, both of them surpass our expectations whenever they launch a new smartphone model. However, many people are not aware of the fact that both Apple and Samsung are the most copied brands in the world. Shocking, isn’t it?
It is well known that whenever a smartphone company launches its brand new version or model, many manufacturers, most of them from China, issue fake smartphones by copying the original phones. They manufacture duplicate phones and sell them either as a first copy or sometimes as originals, by applying all official labels.
Now, a Chinese publication called CNBeta has unveiled a surprising report claiming that Samsung, Apple and Huawei are some of the top brands that are a priority for fake / duplicate smartphone manufacturers in China. Needless to say that the South Korean company is leading all these brands as more than 34% of the fake smartphone market is filled with Samsung, followed by Apple which has a market share of close to 13%.
Other popular smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, Asus, Gionee and Asus are also victims of this duplication. Xiaomi is also a very popular brand among fake phone manufacturers as the China-based company occupies the fourth position with a share of over 7%.
On the other hand, Apple recently overtook Samsung to emerge as the top smartphone vendor for the first time in four years. According to a new report published in leading daily Gartner, Apple sold more than 79.9 million iPhones in the last quarter of 2020 (October to December), while Samsung sold only 62.1 million smartphones. For those unaware, Apple’s iPhone 12 series is increasingly sold and this is a major reason behind their supremacy during the above period.
