Beautician Courses – How to Choose the Best One

Posted on

Whether you want to work in a professional salon, work from home, be a mobile therapist or travel the world on a cruise ship, being a Beautician can be a very rewarding career. It is essential to choose a credited and respected Beautician course.

There are various accreditations that you can choose from, for example, ITEC, CIBTAC, CIDESCO, NVQ, VTCT, FETAC plus many more. Always check whether your qualification will be nationally or internationally recognised. I would always recommend doing an international one as you never know when your circumstances might change.

When choosing the best Beautician course make sure it covers the following areas;

Skin treatment including facial work

Eye treatments such as tinting, tweezing and eyelash extensions

Hair removal, for example, waxing

Make up application

Manicure and Pedicures

Nail extensions such as the Gel or Acrylic system (this does not have to be an essential part of a course, you can always opt to do this at a later stage)

Tanning

Some students also like to study body treatments such as massage, aromatherapy or reflexology but like the nail extensions above, these units can be studied at a later date once you have completed the beauty course.

Once you have chosen a course you now need to decide whether you want to do a full time or part time course. Obviously if you are working full time then a part time evening course would be most suitable. There are so many colleges to choose from so make sure you do some research. A lot of colleges are also competing for enrollments so shop around for price too!

Finally, an essential part of any Beautician course is having the right study guides to assist you with your revision. There are some great books available so make sure you choose the right ones, your tutor and college should assist you with this.
