Fans of “Succession,” “Ted Lasso” and “The White Lotus” had reason to cheer when this year’s Emmy Award nominations were announced. Those shows were among the most recognized, with “Succession” leading the pack with 25 nods. But what about the Emmy snubs?
This year’s list of nominees could be just as notable for who was not invited to the party. We surveyed what some TV observers had to say to see what the biggest snubs were.

drama has been one of the few network (meaning non-streaming) shows to garner consistent Emmy glory in its run, with 38 nominations and four victories in its first five seasons. But for its sixth and final season, it got just one nod — and a relatively minor one (outstanding original music and lyrics) at that. Millie Bobby Brown and Sadie Sink of “Stranger Things”

sci-fi show with an ‘80s vibe, earned more than 10 nominations, from outstanding drama series to outstanding stunt performance. But two of its most beloved performers, Millie Bobby Brown (who plays the telekinetic Eleven) and Sadie Sink (who plays the strong-willed Max) weren’t recognized. And it’s significant for having been written and directed by Indigenous people. It has won a Peabody Award and been widely praised by television critics. But — you guessed it – no Emmy love. Selena Gomez of “Only Murders in the Building”
The Hulu series, a droll look at podcast culture and life in New York City, has been a great platform for its male stars, Steve Martin and Martin Short, both of whom received Emmy acting nominations. But what about Selena Gomez, the female lead? No such luck. Still, the show was nominated for best comedy series and Gomez is an executive producer, so she was recognized in a sense. Variety, the entertainment trade publication, summed it up this way.

Never mind that this Watergate-themed miniseries on Starz

arrived at seemingly the perfect time — when there’s much discussion about the Trump presidency and the roles played by those close to America’s top elected official. Or that the show starred two heavyweights (and Oscar winners) in Sean Penn and Julia Roberts. And there are acclaimed performances from Patton Oswalt and Shea Whigham as well. Still, the miniseries came up blank in Emmy world. One fan, reaching out to Oswalt, called it “the biggest snub by far!!”…
