said sales rose in the third quarter as it grew its customer base, and backed its guidance for the full year.

The Netherlands-based online pharmacy company on Wednesday said total sales rose in the third quarter to reach 285 million euros ($284.6 million), compared with EUR238 million in the same period last year.

It said it managed to grow its customer base by 0.2 million during the period, with the active customer base standing at 8.9 million at the end of September

Sales of non-prescription medicines, which account for around 90% of Apotheke’s total sales, increased by 22% to EUR252 million, the company said.

“We balanced growth, cost savings, and the bottom line. While we successfully continued to grow fast, we achieved a notable quarter over quarter increase in profitability. We now expect a positive adjusted EBITDA for the total group in Q3,” said Chief Financial Officer Jasper Eenhorst.

The company backed its guidance for 2022. It says it expects non-prescription sales to grow by between 15% and 25%, and to achieve an adjusted Ebitda margin in the range of -1.5% to 1.5%.
