Automobile maker Nissan
7201,
is recalling 203,223 pickup trucks over a parking issue that may lead to cars shifting gears and rolling away while parked.
“The transmission parking pawl may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway,” the recall notice states.
The recall impacts Nissan’s Frontier and Titan pickup truck lines from years 2020 to 2023.
Nissan has stated that it hasn’t received any reports of crashes or injuries from car owners, according to the Associated Press. Owners of the vehicles are expected to be mailed letters by Nov. 1, 2022, alerting them of the recall, and may contact Nissan’s customer service at 1-800-867-7669 at any time.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a federal agency designed to help reduce car crashes in the U.S., is advising owners to use the parking brake when parking these trucks in the meantime as a remedy plan is still in development.
Nissan issued a similar recall for these trucks in June 2022.
