In these tough economic times people are scraping by the hair of their teeth to pay bills. In order to supplement income, people are thinking outside the box to make money. Maybe they sell some stuff on eBay, or house sit for a neighbor. In my quest to make money, I opted to look for an opportunity to start a home business.
It all started by doing a little research online… If something piqued my interest, I would sign up for more information and be put on an e-mail list. Before you knew it, everybody was my best friend. Every week I would get offers from companies that had the next best home business software since the invention of water. I was seduced by these get rich guru’s rhetoric and persuasive ad copy. Sometimes I brought it because of the pretty girl they hired as their spokes model. I would be so excited to try the software that I would spend entire weekends trying to put the pieces together of my new financial empire. Only to realize it was a piece of you know what.
I would try everything from instant website builders to day trading. I ended up losing $180.00 trading stock futures. Out of frustration or due to technical difficulty, I would end up returning the products for a refund.
Looking back at some of the sales ad copy for these work at home business opportunities is downright comical. There’s a recurring theme in all of these presentations. It all starts with the following, ” I was at an affiliate convention and met a Russian programmer named Vladmir who came up with this push button software that makes millions overnight. He entrusted me to deliver this product to the masses.” How about this one.. ” I was at a bar with a bunch of rich guys known as the phantom affiliates and they entrusted me to deliver this get rich product to you.”
Not all of the work at home offers are bad. There are reputable companies out there, that have good products. When determining the product you want to try, make sure they show you how their systems work in their presentations. Some of these items just have great ad copy and a substandard product. You can tell if the company is reputable if they offer you at least a sixty day warranty.
In my quest so far, I found a company that asked me to beta test their product for free. That gesture alone tells me that they have a good product that they want to put into the market place. When looking at reviews for potential work at home products make sure it is unbiased. Some reviewers have a direct link to purchase the product, that tells you right there that they are taking a percentage of the sale.
Another thing to look out for in your e-mail inbox is an e-mail from the same guru who sold you product X now promoting product Y. Okay, class you know why? Because they are getting a commission on the sale of the product. Very good!
