Bank of Ireland has been fined 100.5 million euros ($97.8 million) by the Central Bank of Ireland for regulatory breaches relating to mortgages for accounts impacted between August 2004 and June 2022.
The Central Bank of Ireland said that the appropriate fine was EUR143.6 million, but this was reduced by 30% in accordance with the settlement discount scheme provided for in the administrative sanctions procedure.
Bank of Ireland admitted to 81 separate regulatory breaches relating to 15,910 tracker mortgage customer accounts.
The fine is the largest imposed to date by the Central Bank of Ireland.
