Netflix Inc. is seeking to amend its programming deals with major entertainment studios to allow the streaming giant to put content on an advertising-supported version of the service, people familiar with the matter said.
Among the studios Netflix NFLX has begun talks with are Warner Bros. WBD, which makes the hit stalker drama “You”; Comcast’s CMCSA Universal, producer of the dark comedy “Russian Doll”; and Sony Pictures Television, producer of “The Crown” and “Cobra Kai,” the people said.
