Sources in the Ministry of Electronics and IT said that Twitter has not yet complied with all the provisions of the rules that came into force from May 25. Sources say that the government had given the last warning on June 5, but even after that, if Twitter could not follow the rules, then it is clear that action has started.

Now if a lawsuit is filed regarding any content, video or anything else running on Twitter’s platform, then Twitter will also become a party to it and action will be taken against it under the Indian Penal Code.
Appointment of Chief Compliance Officer
For information, let us tell you that following the intermediate guidelines issued by the Ministry of Information Technology, Twitter has appointed interim Chief Compliance Officer late on Tuesday night. The company has said that the details will be shared with the IT ministry soon. A Twitter spokesperson said every effort was being made to comply with the new guidelines. The IT Ministry is being informed about the progress at every step.

At the same time, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology has sent a summon on Twitter. Twitter officials have been summoned and asked to appear before the committee on June 18. Twitter has been summoned on the issue of protection of civil rights, prevention of misuse of social media/online news media platforms and safety of women on online platforms.
