One blog post In 2015, Google announced the rollout of these two new features for Google Messages users in India. The rollout will begin in India in the coming weeks on Android phones running Android 8 and above. Both OTP auto deleting feature and category feature are optional and can be turned on or off in the settings. To see the changes, users need to tap on Google Messages update to latest version SMS messages on the Google Messages app will be sorted into different categories based on their usage when the category feature is enabled. For example, a separate tab will be created for messages containing bank transactions and bill transactions, while messages containing conversations on saved numbers will be kept in the personal tab. Google says the categorization happens securely across users’ devices, so conversations stay in the app and can be accessed offline as well.
For the OTP facility, Google is also offering an option to automatically delete it 24 hours after the OTP is received. With this, users will not have to waste time deleting many OTPs received daily. This will help users to keep their Messages app clean and tidy. Last year, Google also released a feature to automatically move suspicious spam messages to the Spam folder.
