Carrefour Freezes Prices on 100 Items in France as Inflation Hits Consumers

Carrefour SA said Monday that it will block price increases on 100 items of daily use in France as it looks protect customers’ purchasing power against rising inflation.

The French grocer said the prices of 100 own-brand products will be frozen, including foodstuffs as well as non-food items such as cleaning products, hygiene products and clothing. Back-to-school stationery products will also be frozen at current prices, Carrefour said. The price-freeze at stores in France will last 100 days, or until Nov. 30.

The initiative comes amid a context of inflation weighing on household budgets, and follows other intiatives put in place by the company, it said.
